🎱 Billiards (8-Ball & Straight Pool)
Objective
Choose a mode and win by following the rules of 8-Ball or Straight Pool. Aim with your cue, control the power, and pocket the required balls before your opponent.
Rules & Gameplay
General Controls
- Aim with your mouse or finger. Drag to set power; release to shoot.
- 1–2 players: play solo vs. computer or share the keyboard for local multiplayer.
8-Ball — Core Rules
- Fifteen object balls (1–15) plus the cue ball. One player pockets solids (1–7), the other stripes (9–15).
- After the break, the table is “open” until a ball is legally pocketed; that first legal pocket decides your group (solids/stripes).
- Clear your entire group, then legally pocket the 8 ball to win.
- Turn ends when you fail to pocket a ball or you scratch (cue ball falls).
- Break: Player 1 breaks from behind the head string. Pocketing the 8 ball on the break is an instant win.
- Loss conditions: pocketing the 8 ball when it’s not your legal shot, or scratching while shooting the 8 ball.
Straight Pool — Core Rules
- Fifteen balls and a cue ball; there are no sets. You can shoot at any ball.
- Each legally pocketed ball is 1 point. First to the target (e.g., 8 points) wins.
- Turn ends when you fail to pocket a ball or you scratch.
- Break: Player 1 breaks. If a ball is pocketed on the break, that player continues shooting.
Strategy Tips
- Plan position: don’t just pot—leave the cue ball with an angle for your next shot.
- Open lanes early: in 8-Ball, clear clusters and free your problem balls before going for easy ones.
- Control pace: gentle stun shots keep shape; power is for breaks and escapes.
- Safety play: if there’s no high-percentage pot, play a safe to force a mistake.
