♠️♥️♦️♣️ Solitaire

🎯 Objective

The goal in Solitaire is to build all cards into four foundation piles by suit—hearts, spades, clubs, and diamonds—in ascending order from Ace (1) to King (13). It’s a single-player card game that rewards focus and planning, and it’s often used for relaxation or concentration practice.

📜 Rules

Solitaire is played with a standard 52-card deck with no jokers. At the start, deal seven tableau piles: the first pile gets one card, the second two cards, and so on up to seven. Only the top card of each pile is face up; the rest are face down.

When the tableau is set, the remaining cards form the stock. Draw one card at a time from the stock to the waste. You may move the top waste card either to the tableau (in descending order, alternating colors) or to the foundations when it fits. When the stock is exhausted, turn over the waste to continue drawing.

➡️ How to move cards

  • Tableau piles build in descending order with alternating colors (red/black/red/black). For example, a 9♥ can go on a 10♠.
  • The Ace starts each foundation; then build 2, 3, and so on up to King in the same suit.
  • If a tableau column becomes empty, only a King (or a sequence starting with a King) may be placed there.
  • Cards drawn from the stock can be played to the tableau or to the foundations whenever they fit.

🃠 Play example

Suppose the top card of a tableau pile is the Queen of Spades (Q♠) and you draw the Jack of Hearts (J♥) from the stock — you may place the J♥ on the Q♠ because it is one rank lower and of the opposite color. This reveals the next face-down card in that pile, letting you continue building. Step by step, you uncover hidden cards and eventually move everything to the foundations.

💡 Tips for Solitaire

  • Think ahead — it’s often better to uncover a new face-down card than to rush a move to the foundations.
  • Keep the seven tableau columns balanced so you don’t get stuck with empty spaces you can’t use.
  • If you’re stuck, use the waste (stock) draws to find your next move.
