Tarantula Solitaire

đź•· Tarantula Solitaire

Tarantula Solitaire is a thrilling variation of the classic Spider Solitaire, designed for players who enjoy a greater challenge and a longer, more strategic game. With its multiple suits and wider tableau, it demands patience, forward-thinking, and precise planning to win. If you love solitaire games that test both skill and endurance, Tarantula Solitaire will keep you hooked for hours.

While it shares many rules with Spider Solitaire, Tarantula adds its own twist—allowing partial sequences to be moved regardless of suit, which opens up creative gameplay strategies. However, don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s easy—success still requires sharp focus and methodical moves.

🎯 Objective

Your goal in Tarantula Solitaire is to build eight complete sequences of cards in descending order from King to Ace in the tableau. Once a full sequence is complete, it’s removed from the board. Clear all sequences to win the game.

📜 Rules & Gameplay

  • The Tableau: Consists of 10 columns of cards. The first four columns start with 6 cards each, and the remaining six columns start with 5 cards each. Only the top card of each column is face-up at the start.
  • Building Sequences: Cards are built in descending order (King to Ace). Unlike standard Spider Solitaire, you can move partial sequences even if they are not in the same suit.
  • Empty Columns: Any single card or a valid descending sequence can be moved into an empty column.
  • Dealing New Cards: When no more useful moves are available, you can deal a new row of cards from the stock pile. This will place one card face-up on each column, as long as no column is empty.

đź’ˇ Strategy Tips

  • Prioritize uncovering face-down cards as early as possible to expand your available moves.
  • Work towards creating empty columns, as they give you more flexibility in rearranging sequences.
  • While you can move mixed-suit sequences, try to build in the same suit when possible to complete runs more efficiently.
  • Think several moves ahead before dealing new cards—dealing too early can block potential plays.

✨ Why Play Tarantula Solitaire?

Tarantula Solitaire blends the complexity of Spider Solitaire with added flexibility, making it ideal for players who enjoy creative problem-solving and long-form gameplay. It’s the perfect choice for anyone looking for a solitaire game that rewards both strategic thinking and persistence.
